Small Lathe Work

3 bird 1.jpg

Skills Utilized:

Turning, thread cutting, drilling, hardening, tempering

Materials:

Brass, steel, acrylic

Various examples of lathe work from my first year in watchmaking school.

Some practice and practical examples of my early lathe work. The spindle shaped piece was my first ever turned piece and ended up as part of a tree ornament. I was surprised to find that it made a beautiful tone when rung.

We also see a pivot burnishing chuck made of brass, a hardening tube made of steel, a barrel closer made of acrylic, and a pair of stepped pyramids in brass and steel.
